The Great Debate-Ceiling Fans or No Ceiling Fans

Ceiling fans are something that designers hate. Every time I watch an HGTV episode, when a designer walks into the room and sees a ceiling fan, the first thing they say is, we can take that out. Living in Florida, where it’s pretty hot most of the time, I can’t imagine living without my ceiling fans.   Even with the air conditioning on, without a ceiling fan to keep air in the room moving over your body, it can still feel hot. Conversely, when the fans are on, you may not have to turn the thermostat down as low. Which could result in a lower electricity bill.

Even in areas of the country where it only gets hot for a while, ceiling fans can help keep your home more comfortable. Just run the blade clockwise in the winter and the fans will help keep the warm air circulating throughout the room.

When you have a very traditional home, finding just the right ceiling fan to fit your design scheme may be a little tricky. It can be even more difficult when you have a contemporary home. But that seems to be changing lately.

More and more companies are beginning to understand that the old ceiling fan styles just weren’t making the grade and they are beginning to offer more styles of fans to meet the design aesthetic of all different types of home styles. Some of them are even going back to older design styles for people who like to fill their homes with more mid century or even cottage style. There are fans for the Chip and Joanna shiplap homes, and big air movers for those wonderful front porches we all love.

Before you purchase your fans, if you give us a idea of what it is your like, then we can help you get room fans which will not only suit your style and budget, but they may even make some designers smile a little.
